Bonnie Jean Opperman

Bonnie Jean Opperman, age 83 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home. Bonnie was born in Perry, Missouri on March 19, 1932 to James Newton Lowry and Arville Jane Patterson Lowry. She was united in marriage to Henry C. Opperman in Hannibal, Missouri on April 19, 1948. She enjoyed cooking for her family, canning, and working in her garden. Bonnie always had a house full of grandchildren and neighbor kids that never wanted to leave. Everybody called her grandma. Bonnie's CB Handle was Crisco for a very good reason. She made the best pies and her chicken & noodles were always a must at all family get togethers. Bonnie was an avid mushroom hunter and looked forward to going every year. She worked for Richard and Ann Burger, lambing sheep in the winter and cleaning house for Ann. Bonnie never lost her sense of humor throughout her lifetime. One time she jokingly told Richard Burger she was going to have a lamb of her own. Bonnie is survived by her children, Dixie Opperman of Centerville, Candy (Danny) Ray of Moulton, Timothy (Felicia) Opperman of Cincinnati, and Henry F. Opperman of Centerville; along with ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arville Jane Patterson Lowry and James Newton Lowry; her husband, Henry C. Opperman; a son, Davis R. Opperman; daughter, Sara E. Opperman; a sister, Nancy Summers; grandsons, Russell T. Long and Davis Tyler Opperman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. A visitation will take place on Saturday at Lange Funeral Home from 10:00-11:30. A memorial has been established to HCI (formerly known as Hospice of Central Iowa) and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
