A Memorial Service for Bonnie Bryan Self, 86, of Bossier City, Louisiana, will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, 201 John Wesley Boulevard, Bossier City, Louisiana, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. A burial will follow at a later date. Officiating the service will be Reverend David Dietzel and Reverend Sione Tu’uta.
Bonnie Bryan Self was born on May 30, 1937, to John Roy Bryan and Marion Hammonds Bryan in Trion, Georgia, and passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Bonnie married Allen Self on August 17, 1957, and raised their sons in Bossier City. She retired from Schumpert Medical Center as the Business Manager after 40 years of service. Bonnie, also lovingly known as Mimi was an excellent cook who loved to feed her family. She was always making their favorite foods and desserts and her German Chocolate cake will be greatly missed. She was an avid reader and loved to travel with her husband and her dear friends the Andersons. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City and loved being a part of The Parker Sunday School Class. She was also a member of The Mother’s Club and the Bossier Lioness Club.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen Self; sister, Janice Mayes; and brother, Harold Bryan. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Parker Self and wife, Paula, and Philip Self; grandchildren, Will Self and wife, Hannah, Luke Self, Abby Self, and Bryan Self; great-granddaughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Parker Self; daughter-in-law, Mary Self; sister, Jean Cox; brothers, John Bryan and Skyler Bryan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Bossier City or The Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home
