Bonnie Lee (Amos) Ware, 71 of Wintersville, OH passed away at WVU Medicine/Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV on Friday, July 18, 2025. While Bonnie's health challenged her relentlessly for years, she faced each day with a courageous spirit and sense of humor that never faded.
Bonnie was born (along with her twin brother, William "Bill") on March 18, 1954, in Weirton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin "Bob" Amos and the late Bernice Leah (Jackson) Amos.
In addition to Bonnie's parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: sister, Janice (Amos) Thomas and brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Thomas of Washington, PA; twin brother, William A. "Bill" Amos of Weirton, WV; brother, Robert E. "Bob" Amos and sister-in-law, Martha L. "Skip" (Allen) Amos of Weirton, WV.
Bonnie was a 1972 graduate of Brooke High School. She retired from the Brooke County Sheriff's Office where she was a Dispatcher for several years. Bonnie most recently volunteered for five years with Valley Hospice of Steubenville, OH where she would assist in the office and visit patients. Bonnie enjoyed the friendships she built with the staff and patients until her own decline in health intervened.
Bonnie is survived by husband, Kenneth "Randy" Ware of Wintersville, OH; son, Jason Doak; stepson's, Kenneth Ware and Joshua Ware; sister-in-law, Sheila Hensler Schmalstieg (William's life partner); several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Although Bonnie has left this life, her memory will continue to live on in family and friends.
The family entrusted Bonnie to the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville, OH and to Century Cremations in Weirton, WV.
