Bonnie Wood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 20, 2025.
Bonnie Lynn Wood, of Pentwater, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at age 83.

Bonnie was a noted artist who was captivated by the figurative human form. She grew up in the small town of Ovid, Michigan, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse. She went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in art from Western Michigan University. Twenty years later, she completed an additional bachelor's degree in interior architecture from Wayne State University.

In 1991, she picked up a paintbrush and started painting figures on found objects such as tables, chairs and boxes. She went on to paint large canvases, often focusing on groups of dancing (sometimes nude) human figures. Her art has been displayed in the Plum Line Gallery in Evanston, Illinois, as well as the J. Petter Galleries in Douglas, Michigan and the Tamarack Gallery in Omena, Michigan.

Bonnie also loved her log cabin in Pentwater, which she expanded with the help of acclaimed architect Gordy Rogers. She did all the landscaping around the cabin, which has been featured on both the home tour and the garden tour of Pentwater.

She loved to travel, especially to Scotland, Ireland and other European countries. Her most recent excursion was to Spain and the Republic of Georgia in 2023.

Bonnie is survived by two nieces, Nichole Miller of Pentwater, Michigan and Alyssa Miller of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a grandnephew Sebastian; and her partner of 15 years, Richard Griffith of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her brother Barry and her parents, Max and Pauline Miiler.

A date for a celebration of Bonnie's life will be announced later.
