BOOKER T. WASHINGTON SR, born on June 14, 1934, in Ennis, Texas, passed away peacefully in his hometown on December 13, 2024, at the age of 90. A gentle and kind soul, Booker dedicated a significant portion of his life to his family and community, embodying the values of compassion and service.
Booker was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Ennis, where he laid the foundation for a life committed to both personal and professional excellence. Following his education, he served six years in the Army, embracing the call of duty with honor.
Upon returning to civilian life, Booker built a commendable career, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service from Ennis Business Forms. His remarkable work ethic and versatility earned him respect among colleagues and peers, showcasing his talent as a 'jack of all trades.'
Beyond his professional life, Booker was actively involved in his local church, serving as a deacon at Galilee Baptist Church in Ennis. His commitment to faith and community service reflected his deep values and belief in uplifting those around him. He embraced the role of usher, welcoming everyone into the sanctuary with warmth and kindness.
A man of diverse interests, Booker had a profound love for the blues, often finding solace in music. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, passionately supporting his team through thick and thin. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, cherishing every moment shared with his loved ones.
Booker Washington's proudest accomplishment was his family, whom he held dear to his heart. As a beloved figure among those who knew him, his legacy of love, kindness, and service will undoubtedly continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
The memory of Booker T. Washington SR will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. A prayer service will be held in his honor on December 20, 2024, at Bright and Morning Star Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas, 6:00 - 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:Ennis Mt. Zion - 800 E. Freeman, Ennis, Tx , Burial - Mon- 12-23-24 - 10:30am - Dallas - Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
