Gail and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Booth was a great supporter for women's soccer and provided many of us with opportunities we would have otherwise not had. I have many wonderful memories of those years spent playing for the Cozars - Hawaii, Norway, St. Louis, even a practice at the Governor's mansion! I'm grateful to have met Booth.

My prayers are with (you) Gail, Doug and family. He made alot of opportunties for alot of people including myself. I'm grateful for being on the "COZARS" and the being with the gals he brought in. I'm grateful for all the traveling he paid for so we could play around the country and abroad. I know there are many (now) grown women saying; "Wow, what a great time we had." He made that possible. He was a very good leader and coach. He was also a very kind and thoughtful person. I will remember him warmly.
Sincerely, Jeanne Oak

Condolences from Tom and Marilyn Baker

Tom has fond memories of Booth at the Burton Front Beach on Vashion Island in the 40s and 50s. Marilyn met Booth at the UW and always received special attention from Booth when she took her second grades to Olympia for the Capital tour. We remember Booth as a friendly, generous, and gentle man.

I recall clearly the day Booth met with a large group of people who have disabilities and representatives to discuss barriers to full particpation. I was impressed then and have been ever since. He has done so much good and done it with humility and class.

Washington just lost one of its humble giants. Gov. Gardner your legacy will go on and I hope the elected officials will strive to be as keen as you were in your service, public and private. Goodbye good friend.

Governor Booth Gardner was a great visionary that was instrumental attracting various companies to the state of Washington to diversify the state's economy. His commitment in revitalizing towns & cities such as the tri-cities that were deteriorating was a fine example of his legacy. I had the privilege for serving as the governor's executive fellow from 1988-1989 and I have great memories of him as our motivational speaker /mentor at breakfast, lunch events that were hosted by his office. It is my hope that; people of Washington State will always remember this great governor's contribution! May God finally rest him in peace and may God comfort his family!

Just Friday night I mentioned his name to some friends. Prior to him becoming our governor he was Pierce County Executor. I was only 14 years of age petting their horses at a fenced pasture when he walked up to me and proposed a deal to take care of their thoroughbreds Betsy-Looking Glass and Dennis-Jaywalker while Gail was off to college. I am and will be forever grateful of this time I had spent working with his horses and knowing the family. He never knew that working for his horses brought purpose and meaning in my life. Such a simple thing but so profound! His trust in me to care for such beautiful and expensive animals spoke volumes to me that I was of worth and of importance. During this time of my life I was dealing with abuse and thoughts of suicide. The care for Betsy and Dennis... the nature and beauty of them brought substantial meaning and healing to me. My love for horses will always be in connection to healing in my life as a young child. I only wish now I had the chance to extend my gratitude of this to Booth personally. So... to his dearest family and friends "Thank You!" for letting me have the chance to know Booth, the care I had for Betsy and Dennis and the opportunity to share this story of mine. My sincerest condolences to you all. I send my love and prayers to the Gardner and extended family members. May God strengthen and give you peace. God bless! Pastor Johanna R. I am proud to have served Governor Gardner and the citizens of the State of Wahington having been sworn in as a new State Trooper by Governor Gardiner in 1986. I remember his words just as if they were said today; "Never forget as you go forward, you are ambassadors of the State of Washington." I remembered those words and still try to live by them just as he did in all his works for the people. His service was so much bigger than any one or self. He will be missed and he will be remembered as the kind and generous person he was and for all the good he did in his life for the betterment of people of Washington State and those he served. I am sorry for your loss.

Former governor Gardner is remembered for his high ethics in considering his constituents. His standards should be emulated by our current lawmakers, nationally as well as in our state. I applaud his achievements and mourn his death.
