Boyd Dean Wood, 75, of State Road, NC, passed away peacefully at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home Monday, November 10, 2025. Born September 28, 1950, to the late Boyd and Iva Royal Wood in Alleghany County. Boyd was a faithful Christian who loved God. He loved his family, tractors, golfing, and talking. Boyd will be dearly missed by many. Left to carry his memory is his loving wife, Linda Taylor Wood: daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Wood Smith, Sharon Wood Cheek and Mike, and Deanne Wood Fitzgerald and Jeff; grandchildren, Christopher Cheek and Jess, Amanda Brown-VanDorn and Ashley, Wesley Cheek and Autumn, Tyler Fitzgerald and Michaela, Lanie Chase Fitzgerald, and Paxton Fitzgerald; great grandchildren, Greyson Cheek, Holden Bledsoe, Kinsley Rae Cheek, Caden Cheek, Abigail Brown, Aliyah Morrison, and Lucas Morrison; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Etta Shores and Mike, Lou Jane Shores and Phillip, and Karen Lloyd and Frank; brother, Mark Wood; and special friends, Bill Nixon, Johnny Haynes, and Johnny Gentry. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Smith; and brother, Philip Wood. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Mountain Park Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at Mountain Park Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2025, with Rev. Mike Cheek officiating. A celebration of Boyds life will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Wood family.
