Brack L. Duncan, lovingly known as Louis to his siblings and "Uncle NuNu" to his nieces and nephews, was born on June 19, 1951, to the late Escort and Ruth Duncan. On March 7, 2026, he peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
During his life journey, Louis gave his life to Christ and faithfully attended New Hope Baptist Church until his health declined.
Louis enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, and was known as a sharpshooter at the pool table. He also loved watching his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers, while talking trash when his team played against any family member who cheered for the Philadelphia Eagles or the Dallas Cowboys.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Trisha (Scot) Lasher who holds onto a special Bible Verse her Father shared with her years ago (Jeremiah 29:11) and his son Robert Louis Bates Sr. who holds on to a special memory of them attending a retirement party together where he never left his side.
Grandchildren: Ashley (Marion) Rice, Al'aasia Owens, Robert Louis Bates Jr., Ya'myira Bates, and II'yannie Bates; and great-grandchildren: Marionah, Uriah and Winston.
He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Duncan, Valerie Duncan, Rebecca Carr, and Lisa Duncan (Reading, Pa); Mary Byrd, Sherwood (Tara) Duncan, Coleen (William) McAlpine (Fayetteville NC). Mackever Duncan (Charlotte NC), and Nancy (Ralph) Johnson (South Carolina); niece and caretaker Ciara Duncan (Reading Pa.) along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Louis was preceded in death by his daughter Alexus Duncan; sisters Diane Duncan, Pauline Duncan, and Martha Cooper; brother Willie Duncan; niece Nikia Brady; and nephews Xavier Duncan and Se'viyon Jefferson.
The family sincerely thanks the Reading Hospital Palliative Care Department and Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their compassionate care, and all who have shown love and support during this time.
Louis' love: laugh and playful demeanor will fill our hearts forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 1:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
