Bradley John Karvonen

Marquette, MI- Bradley John Karvonen, 51, passed away at his home on January 29, 2026, of natural causes.

Bradley was born on July 8, 1974, in Hancock, Michigan, to Donald and Cheryl (Nevala) Karvonen of Mohawk. He grew up in the Copper Country, a place with many early happy memories.

He graduated from Calumet High School in 1992, earned an Associate of Arts degree from Suomi College in 1994, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Northern Michigan University in 1996. He was thoughtful, intelligent and a talented writer.

Brad had a lifelong love of music and amassed an impressive collection of CDs, which brought him enjoyment and challenged his organizational skills. In earlier years, he loved getting into his car and exploring all the backwoods of the Upper Peninsula. He found peace and healing in nature. In more recent years, walking became an important part of his daily life, especially along

the Heritage Trail.

Brad faced ongoing challenges with mental illness. It was a difficult journey, but was only one part of who he was. He was a sensitive soul who found meaning in music, nature, and reflection, and he will be remembered for his gentle presence and thoughtful nature.

Brad is survived by his aunt, Patricia Nevala of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Cheryl, and by his grandparents, Matheau and Ethel Nevala, with whom he shared a close and loving bond.

Honoring Brad's wishes, no public services will be held. Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family where condolences may be expressed online at fassbenderswansonhansen.com.
