RUTLAND, VT-On July 20, 2021, Brande Lane Smith (46 years young) fell asleep/passed away in Rutland, Vermont and is awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.
Brande was born in Columbus, Ohio to Nelson Smith and Rhonda Spradlin/Smith Vignola. She grew up a happy little red-headed girl, full of energy and a great sense of humor. She was an amazing Chef!! She loved God, her family, music, dancing, flowers, gardening, mountains, the ocean and purple was her favorite color. She spent the last 6 years in prison, AND, she did well with her time there. She chose to spend most of her days there in a program, called "Beauty for Ashes," which teaches who you are in Christ and that He is our compete savior. This helped her recall the truths she had been taught as a child. She enjoyed sharing and helping her fellow inmates with their Faith. She also achieved her "Professional Gardening" certificate from WERDCC Career and Technical Department. She had such a passion for gardening and landscaping.
Brande was preceded in death by her grandmother, Olena Spradlin of Houston, Texas and her grandparents, Bob and Wanda Smith of Rubyville, Ohio. She is survived by Miranda Mae Ouellette (daughter), Rhonda Vignola (mother), Nelson Smith (father), Teri Smith (step-mom), Daphney Allen (sister), Anna Moore (half-sister), David Vignola (half-brother), and Zach Smith (half-brother). Brad Spradlin, Scott Spradlin, Gib Spradlin and Steve Spradlin (uncles), Bobettia Doll (aunt), John Doll (uncle). Also, Brande is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private "Celebration of Life" will be held on September 13, 2021. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Brande's memory to these organizations that impacted her life.
