Brandon "Buck" Scott Downs, 20, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Cox Creek, KY. He was born on July 10, 2002 to Anthony Scott Downs & Melinda Watson Porter in Elizabethtown, KY.
Brandon had a way of making life fun and wanted everyone around him to enjoy it as much as he did. He was fearless, loved Jesus and had a smile that would take over a room. Brandon was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a passion for nature and wildlife. He took every opportunity to share his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. He enjoyed kayaking, and loved to ride anything with wheels, but he was especially fond of his ATV. Brandon never knew a stranger, never found anything he couldn't fix, and always put the needs of others before his own. He was as a role model to his younger cousins, and a brother and son to many. His loved ones will cherish his memory, and forever miss their "B".
As a young boy, Brandon was a member of Boy Scout Troop 142, where he gained his love of the outdoors, and earned the nickname Sparky. Brandon was a 2020 graduate of Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he was adored by his teachers, and known as a great friend to his classmates. He was involved in JROTC and Vocational Technical School where he enjoyed working on small engines, and gained ambition to become a mechanic, like his father.
Brandon was predeceased by his grandfather Ernest Hutchins, grandmother Susan Modzelewski and cousin Jeremy McCubbins.
Left to cherish his memory are father, Anthony Scott Downs, and wife Carrie of Virginia Beach, VA; mother, Melinda Watson Porter and husband Richard of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Madison Ann Downs of Bardstown, KY; step-brother Tyler Porter; step-sister Tiffany Porter; grandparents Ricky Watson, Kathy Hutchins, Pat and Agnes Morris, Danny and Susie Downs, and Stephen and Nenita Modzelewski; uncles, Chucky Downs, Michael Morris (Alyssa), Taylor Morris and Justin Hutchins; aunts, Amanda "Aunt Da" Orewiler (Shawn), Jennifer "Aunt Jenna" Gibson (Justin) and Amanda Hutchins; cousins Brooklyn, Elijah, Catherine, Hannah, Austin, Adrian, Weston, Mason, Madelynn, Cadence, Abby, McKenzie, Aria and Kennedy; girlfriend Margaret "Marty" Curtsinger and a host of extended family and friends.
His funeral service will be 11 am Friday March 3 at Barlow Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3 pm to 8 pm Thursday March 2 and 9 am to 11 am March 3 at Barlow
