Coach Brandon Duane Smith

With heavy hearts, we announce the untimely passing of Brandon Duane Smith, born on January 18, 1980, in the ever-cherished town of Sharon, Pennsylvania. Brandon departed this world on September 21, 2025, and was known to the community as Coach Bran. He will be forever remembered as a loving father, devoted son, caring brother, and a friend to many.

Born to the union of Karen Smith and the late Rudolph Wright, Brandon's journey through life was marked by warmth and resilience. He was a proud product of the Farrell Area School District, where he excelled in football and basketball. After graduating in 1999, Brandon furthered his education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Kittaning Campus to pursue his interest in business management.

Professionally, Brandon found purpose and fulfillment in his role as a Maintenance Technician at the Mercer County Housing Authority, where his dedication to his work shone through. Those who knew him will remember his gentle spirit, his infectious laughter, and the way he made those around him feel valued.

In addition to his professional life, Brandon was deeply involved in the community, where he made a remarkable impact as the Head Coach for the Farrell youth programs. His nurturing spirit, love, and guidance inspired countless young athletes, mentoring a generation and instilling a sense of purpose and fun in their lives. His jovial and fun-loving nature gave hope, confidence and security to the lives he was entrusted to guide.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his children: Brandon Smith Chambers, Kailynn Satterwhite, Jhailyn Richardson, Tahjmere Gibson, Kabron Smith, Tyerra Hopson, Lamir Smith, Laila Smith, Sheldon Smith, Braydon Smith, Ozias Smith, and Mohini Smith. He embraced fatherhood with every ounce of love he had, nurturing dreams and planting seeds of hope within the lives of his remarkable children.

Brandon leaves precious memories and moments with his beloved mother, Karen Smith; siblings Lamont Hailstock Sr., Marissa Venable, and Josh Williams; his cherished maternal grandmother, Alda D. Smith; and grandchildren Brailyn Smith Chambers and Nasir Waggoner, along with an expansive host of family, friends and community who he embraced.

As Brandon entered eternity, he joined a cloud of witnesses, which includes his father Rudolph Wright, and will champion others to pick up the mantel.

In honoring Brandon's life, the family invites the community to a public viewing and family visitation on Monday September 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Greater Morris Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 926 Darr Ave, Farrell PA., and again on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

The Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tiffany Holden as the celebrant. Coach Bran's life will be recognized as one that was filled with love, tenacity, and an enduring spirit.

After the committal ceremony, Brandon will be laid to rest in the serene meadows of the Oakwood Cemetery, 600 N Oakland Ave, Sharon, PA. As we grieve the loss of Brandon, let us also reflect on the light he brought into our lives. Though he may no longer walk among us, the love he shared will forever echo in our hearts.
