Brenda Burns, 85, passed away on Saturday morning, January 10, 2026, at Hendrick Medical Center, Brownwood. Having lived in Brownwood since 1971, Brenda had been a resident of Oakridge Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab for nearly 8 years.

Brenda Kay Payne was born to Elza and Rena Payne, coming into the world in time to be named 1941 Antioch, Ohio first baby of the new year. After graduating from Ashland (Ohio) High School, Brenda married Donald Burns in 1959. They made their home in Brownwood where he preceded her in death in 2005.

She was a mother of five, a friend to many, Granny Bee to her grandchildren and Mama Bee to those who knew her longest.
Her two children Scott Burns and Tess Burns preceded her in death in 2006 and 2013 respectively.

Those surviving are her children Tamara Evans, Donna Posey and Kelson Burns; grand-children Chelsi Martin, Kathryn Evans (Nick Kaufman), Sean Blanchard, Dan Bishop (Stacy), Chris Bishop (Tiffany), Jamel Hawke, Kelson Burns Jr, Zachary Burns; great grand-children Xavier Deal, Christopher Sholes, Jaxon Bishop, Tanner Bishop, Rogan Bishop; as well as nieces and nephews living in Ashland, Ohio.

In leu of flowers, the family request donations to Salvation Army or any charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 28, 2026, at 1:00pm at Blaylock Funeral Home, 1914 Indian Creek Rd in Brownwood.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
