Brenda Lee Dawson
September 11, 1950 – March 18, 2026

Brenda Lee Dawson, 75, of Mayville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and unwavering commitment to her family. Born on September 11, 1950, in Brown City, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Harold and Thana Smith.

On November 23, 1968, Brenda married the love of her life, Ron Dawson, shortly after his return from service in Vietnam. Their love story was one of patience and devotion-Brenda faithfully waited two years for Ron's return, completing her high school education while marking each passing day on a calendar until they could finally begin their life together. Their marriage of 57 years was a true testament to enduring love and partnership.

Brenda was a hardworking and dedicated woman throughout her life. She wore many hats, including owning the Kingston Party Store, selling Friendly Homes, serving as an editor for The Buyer's Guide, and working as an accounting clerk for Ames Department Store and later Deco Plate in Lapeer, Michigan until her retirement. No matter where she worked, she brought diligence, kindness, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Above all else, Brenda's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She loved deeply and selflessly, always putting her family first. Whether offering guidance, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, Brenda was the heart of her family. She treasured every moment spent together and created a lifetime of memories that will be carried on by those who loved her.

In 2011, Brenda and Ron began spending their winters in Bartow, Florida, at Good Life RV Resort-a place that truly lived up to its name for her. She embraced every moment there, enjoying card games, marbles, bingo, shuffleboard, and, most importantly, the friendships she formed. She looked forward to each winter with excitement and joy, truly living her best life surrounded by laughter and companionship.

When in Michigan, Brenda remained just as active and engaged. She rarely missed her grandchildren's sporting events and was a familiar and supportive presence on the sidelines. She also enjoyed playing cards at local venues and was an active member of the Caro shuffleboard club.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ron Dawson; her children, Rusty (Dawn) Dawson, Tim (Jessica) Dawson, Debra Fryers and her son-in-law, James Fryers. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brian (Rachel), Brent (Ashley), Jacob (Ashlyn), Daniel (Kaitlyn), Nathan (Shilynn), Chayse, Kayden (Sadie), Brady, Hunter, and Ava. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Carter, Jaxson, Dax, Penelope, Deanna, Ledger, Adalynn, and soon-to-arrive Sutton, whom she eagerly awaited.

She is also survived by her sister, Dawn Miller; her sisters-in-law, Sandy (Ron) Stevens and Delores (Viktor) Kropa; special friends Bill and Charlotte Turner; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Thana Smith; her brothers, Alan and Mickey Smith; her sister-in-law, Carol McCummons; and her mother-in-law, Jean Bond.

Brenda will be remembered for her kind heart, her strength, and most of all, her unconditional love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the memories she created, and the deep bonds she nurtured. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
