Marion- Brenda Faye Freeman, 66, of Marion, formerly of Chester, West Virginia, passed away at 6:22 PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at her home.
Brenda was born on August 7, 1959 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Boyd and Martha Jean (Schmidt) Devore. She married Walt Freeman in West Virginia and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2005.
She was a hardworking woman who was employed many years in the deli at the Wal-Mart in Calcutta, Ohio. Prior to that she worked at convenience stores and on a farm picking berries.
She was a Christian woman and volunteered her time as secretary of the American Legion in Chester, West Virginia. She was a private woman but liked dining out at O'Charley's, La Fiesta and Italian restaurants. She most enjoyed spending all of her free time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter- Katrina Orenzuk of Carbondale; grandchildren- Zachary Freeman of Marion and Eva Mack of Brookport; brothers- David (Diane) Devore of Ohio, Kenneth (Linda) Devore of Wellsville, Ohio, Daniel (Bruce Beasley) Devore of Marion and Brian Devore of Elkton, Ohio; sister- Hope (Jeff) Boudler of Hamlinburg, Illinois; step mother- Edna Devore of Metropolis; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and beloved son in law- Frank Orenzuk.
Private family services will be held at a later date and inurnment will take place at a later date in Hammondsville, Ohio. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to McCluskie-Miller Funeral Home in Herrin.
