Brenda Joyce (Weaver) Ginn, 83, loving wife and mother of three daughters, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Brenda was born on May 3, 1942, in
Knoxville, TN, the only child of Earl and Elise Weaver; she was raised in the beautiful mountain countryside of Johnson City, TN. She graduated from Science Hill High School in 1960; moved back to Knoxville (Go Vols!) and graduated from East Tennessee Baptist Hospital with a diploma in nursing in 1963. Brenda met Richard Ginn while working at Baptist Hospital; they married on March 14, 1964. They raised three amazing daughters: Teresa, Melinda and Kristina in Lenoir City and in Franklin TN.
Brenda's nursing career spanned 44 years, including work at Oteen Veteran's Hospital (Ashville, NC), Mountain Home VA Medical Center (Johnson City, TN), Erlanger Hospital (Chattanooga, TN), East Tennessee Baptist Hospital and UT Medical Center. The highlight of her nursing career was Parkwest Medical Center. She had the privilege of being the first Surgery Department Director at Parkwest Hospital, which opened in 1973. In 1984, Richard's career moved them to Franklin TN where she was the Operating Room Director at Southern Hills Medical Center (Nashville) and then Williamson Medical Center (Franklin). She then returned to her beloved Parkwest Medical Center in 2001, retiring from nursing in 2007 after a Joint Commission Survey with zero findings in her area of responsibility. While not finished with coordinating, she established the Parkwest Retiree Group and maintained lunch-time relationships with physicians, nurses and administrators in the East TN area. All three daughters currently work in healthcare, two following nursing careers.
Brenda's joy in life was family, work, church, grandchildren, UT sports (Go Vols!), shopping, and travel. She has traveled to all fifty states and to Europe. She enjoyed seeing her daughters and grandchildren participate in sports, hobbies and extracurricular activities. She loved to cheer on her Volunteers, no matter the sport. She was a life-long attendee and supporter of the Lady Vols and enjoyed watching them play on TV even when she could no longer attend games in person.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Edna Elise (Simmons) Weaver. She is survived by her lifelong soul mate and husband of 61 years Richard; daughters Teresa Paris, Melinda (Darrell) True, and Kristina (Mike) Brammer. Grandchildren Cody (Madison) Paris, Jessica (Wesley) Saunders, Sophia Paris, Austin (Dani) True, Dalton True (fiancé Alexia Hoskins), Cayden True, Madalyn Brammer, and Kaitlyn Brammer.
