Brenda Gail Butler Morrison, 78, of Brentwood, TN, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, following a long illness endured with great strength and resilience. Gail was born on August 5, 1947, in
Decaturville, TN to the late Halley Quentin Butler and Anna Laura White Butler.
Gail was a graduate of the last graduating class of Decaturville High School in 1965. Gail later earned a degree in education from Lambuth College, Jackson, TN in 1969. Gail tirelessly and with great commitment taught elementary school in the Jackson and Memphis City School systems until she retired in 1999 due to health issues.
In 1969, Gail married her beloved husband, Archie Clifford Morrison III (Cliff), with whom she shared almost 56 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to their three sons, Chris, Paul, and Joseph Morrison. Gail was a proud grandmother and took great joy in her grandchildren, James, Mary Lee, Miller, and Hadley Gail. One of Gail's greatest joys was her family and home, sharing love and life's adventures with her husband, sons and their families.
Gail, a faithful believer in Christ, became a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church as a teenager and remained a member of the United Methodist Church, with a nearly 20-year membership at Capleville United Methodist Church, Memphis, TN, and her final church home being Brentwood United Methodist Church, Brentwood, TN. While in later years she was unable to attend church services in person, she faithfully attended on-line services.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Halley Quentin Butler and mother, Anna Laura White Butler; brothers Charles Butler and Randall Butler; grandson, Hunter Hobbs Morrison; father-in-law, Dr. Archie Clifford Morrison, Jr; mother-in-law, Alice Fretz Morrison; sisters-in-law, Joy Butler, Doris Butler; and brother-in-law, Mike Morrison.
Gail is survived by her husband, Cliff; sons, Chris (Suzy) Morrison of Nashville, TN, Paul (Mandy) Morrison of Brentwood, TN, and Joseph (Stephanie) Morrison of Chambersburg, PA; grandchildren James Morrison, Mary Lee Morrison, Miller Morrison, and Hadley Gail Morrison;
brothers, Hallie E. "Sonny" (Edwina) Butler of
Decaturville, TN, Phil (Robin) Butler of Knoxville, TN; sister, Glenda (Barry) Shearon of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Deniece (Horry) Dungan, Patty (Greg) Westrich, Patty Morrison; brother-in-law, David (Donda) Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 8648 Mt. Carmel Rd,
Decaturville, TN. Family visitation will precede the service at Reed's Chapel Decaturville, 113 South West St,
Decaturville, TN 38329 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Societey.
