It is with heavy hearts, yet profound peace and unwavering faith, that we share the news of, Brenda Preston, our dear mother's peaceful transition on October 25, 2025, at 5:58am surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Brenda Preston 65, a native of Killona, La. was born on January 4, 1960, to the late Richard Dent and Olivia Preston. The Mother of Shantell Preston Marshall, Randy Sr., and Lakita Preston. Sister of Cathy Dent, Richard Preston Sr. (Tamesia), Marie Preston, the late Cynthia Raymond Francois, Vanessa, and Tyrone Preston.
Brenda was an outgoing, independent, and strong force to be reckoned with even during her illness. She never lost her sense of humor, her determination to make others smile, nor her ability to be blunt and tell it like it is. She enjoyed the simpler things in life; she had a way of making everyone feel special. She had a warmth that naturally drew people in, a kindness that knew no bounds, and a spirit that made life more beautiful. Brenda found immense joy in going to church, sitting in the yard, fishing, cutting grass, listening to music, dancing, and helping those in need in her neighboring community. However, the most treasured moments were those spent with her granddaughter Ari, family, and devoted friends.
Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Her memories will be cherished by her 3 children, Shantell, Randy Sr., and Lakita. 2 siblings Richard Preston Sr. and Marie Preston. 14 grandchildren, KiA, Ki'Ante', Ja'Vonte', and Merrill Marshall Jr., Ra'Nya Baloney, A'Riginae Jupiter, Rendy Alexander, Randy, Randen, Rashad, Ray'lon, A'Riyah, A'hrianna, and Ray'lan Preston.2 bonus granddaughters Aniah Girod and Gabrielle Alexander. 9 great grandchildren, Noah and Nash Scott, JaSahd Marshall, Jae'Cei and JaySohn Davis, De'Ari Lane, Rai'Den and Rhaza Preston, and Ki'Yeir Sylve. 1 Sister-n-law Tamesia Preston and 1 Brother-n-law Charles Francois. Godchildren Marty Stockman, Brandi Leleaux, and Makalyn Bradley.
Devoted family and friends Robert Tellock, Margie Bennett, Nicole Raymond, Marlene and Marie Preston, and Eric Neal. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew's other relatives, and friends.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Olivia Preston and Richard Dent, sisters, Karen Dent, Cynthia Francois, and Vanessa Preston, brothers, Kenneth, Larry, and Ernest Dent, and Tyrone Preston. Nephew Alfred Preston Sr and Godchild Darrell Harris.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of Canaan Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Homegoing Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Canaan Baptist Church, 319 Killona Drive, Killona, LA 70057. Rev. Henry Wolfe, Jr. Pastor-Officiating. Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named Church. Interment Killona Resthaven Cemetery, Killona, LA 70057.
