On August 28th 2024, the Lord called one of His angels home-our beloved Brenda L. Rodriguez. While we mourn her passing, we find solace in knowing that heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Brenda's life was a testament to joy, kindness, and grace, and her vibrant spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on January 19th, 1961, Brenda immigrated to the Bronx, New York, in the early 1960s. From there, she moved to New Jersey, living in Paterson and Hawthorne before settling in Middletown, NY. It was in Middletown that she and her husband, Nelson Rodriguez, bought a beautiful home and continued to create a life filled with love and joy.
As an Accounts Receivable Representative at The Valley Hospital for 24 years, Brenda was admired not only for her professional dedication but also for her warmth and genuine compassion. Her infectious laugh could light up any room, and her gentle soul made everyone feel seen and valued.
Brenda was known for her zest for life, her impeccable style, and her passion for cooking and fitness. Her home was always a place of warmth and hospitality, filled with the aromas of her favorite recipes and the laughter of loved ones. No one could outdress Brenda, and her meticulous attention to detail extended beyond her wardrobe but also to her immaculate home. She was the glue that held everyone together.
Her nurturing and caring spirit made so many see her as their own mother, as she offered support, love and a comforting presence to all. Brenda's loving heart was never judgmental, she embraced everyone with kindness -making each person feel valued and cherished. Brenda had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, leaving an unforgettable imprint on their hearts.
Brenda faced her battle with cancer with the same courage and resilience that define her life. A true warrior to the end, her strength and grace in the face of adversity were a testament to her incredible spirit. Though we mourn her loss, Brenda was, and will always be, an extraordinary woman. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and elegance. Her angelic heart and soul will continue to live in all of those she loved and all who loved her.
Brenda is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Nelson Rodriguez, and her cherished daughter, Catherine. She will be deeply missed by her five brothers, Angel, Raul, Benny, Chemon, and David, and her two sisters, Dali and Beatriz, who shared countless memories and unconditional love. Brenda was predeceased by her dear mother, Ines Gonzales, but is also survived by her father and stepmother, Severo and Emerita Morales, who were always close to her heart.
Her adoring nephew, Erik, along with her many nephews and nieces, brought immense joy to her life, just as her many cousins, whom she adored, filled her days with laughter and connection. Brenda treasured her lifelong friendships with Sandra Beato, her friend of 59 years, and Gracie Torres, her friend of 45 years, who stood by her through every joy and challenge. Her two beloved dogs, Ivy and Sage, provided her with companionship and comfort, especially during her last moments.
Brenda's colleagues at Valley Hospital were not just coworkers but became her extended family. She leaves behind a vast extended family and countless friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts, remembering her kindness, warmth, and the love she generously shared with all.
Brenda will always be remembered as a beacon of light and love. Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her, reminding us to live each day with the joy and grace she so effortlessly embodied.
Visiting Saturday 3 - 7 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Cremation will be private.
