Brenda Sirmon

In the early morning hours of October 8th, 2023, in Columbia, MD, Brenda Kuhn Sirmon, age 82, stepped into the presence of the Lord. Born on September 21st, 1941, Brenda grew up in Bayard, WV and graduated in 1959 from Bayard High School. After graduation, she attended Catherman's Business School in Cumberland, MD.

Brenda retired in 2001 after thirty years of working for the US Federal Government - Healthcare Financing Administration.

As a young mother, Brenda and her first husband Jim enjoyed being on the sidelines at various sports activities that her children participated in, which included soccer, lacrosse and football. During these same years, summer trips to Maine and spending time with family "back home" were her most treasured trips.

As her children grew older, she developed a love for biking, soccer and trying new fads like roller blading. Prior to returning to the Columbia, MD area in July 2021 to be closer to family, Brenda and her second husband, John, lived in Hertford, NC for 22 years. During these retirement years she honed her love of gardening and overall enjoyment of coastal living, as well as cultural experiences visiting other countries and our national parks.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Albert Kuhn and Effie Burgess Kuhn and siblings Ronald Edwin Kuhn and Joan Kuhn Corbin as well as her first husband, James Virgil Boos. She is survived by her husband John Sirmon, sons Michael Boos (Candy) and Derek Boos (Penny), daughter Andrea Morrison (Carey Robert), stepdaughters Aimee Sirmon and Renee Henley, sisters in law Sist. Virginia Boos and Dolores Kitzmiller Kuhn. Brenda was also blessed with 1 nephew and 3 nieces as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 2nd from 1pm to 4pm. The Turn House at Hobbit's Glen Golf Club, 11130 Willow Bottom Drive, Columbia, MD 21044. Please bring your favorite stories and memories to share. Appetizers & drinks will be served. Kindly RSVP penny.pathways@gmail.com
