Brenda Terry Obituary

Brenda Jean Terry
June 20, 1943 - March 28, 2023
Poway Our beautiful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend Brenda Jean Terry graduated one more time to be with our daughter Sharon in the hereafter on March 28, 2023. She was an accomplished Student, Teacher, Scholar, and a hard worker. As a student she continued to learn new things, as a teacher she provided caring and personal student help, and as a scholar she went on in school until graduating from USIU in 2000 with a Doctorate Degree in Technology and Learning. She was chosen Outstanding Doctor of Education in Technology and Learning, June 17, 2000.
She was born on June 20, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee to Wallace Robinson Bonds and Lera Agnes Ray Bonds, and grew-up in Fallbrook, Calif. She graduated from Fallbrook High School in 1961. She attended Palomar College from 1961 until 1963. She was a Palomar School newspaper editor and an athletic team cheerleader. She was never afraid of hard work. After leaving college, she went to work for General Atomics as a financial clerk and executive secretary.
It was in 1963 that she first met Donald Terry, and they were married at the Catamaran Hotel in Pacific Beach on January 23, 1965. Don and Brenda adopted 3 children, Todd Alan Terry, Brian Lee Terry, and Sharon Lynne Terry. All were sealed to Don and Brenda in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint Temple in Los Angeles, Calif. Thereafter, Shauna Rae Terry was born in the covenant and naturally sealed to Don and Brenda.
During the child growing years she worked diligently ferrying children around, started her own business called Terry's Tasty's, distributing chocolate to ward representatives throughout the San Diego region, and learning to knit using the computerized knitting machine. She also worked as a caterer for special occasions. Once the children were old enough, she started working at Palomar College teaching computer classes. She taught for over 32 years. It was during this time that she received her doctors Degree.
She became President of our School Business known as Hit Any Key, Inc. She managed to get the Hit Any Key (HAK) School Certified in the State of California by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Vocational Education. This helped the school remain in business for over ten years. Brenda would write the books used for educating students in computer techniques. Following the HiT Any Key business closure, she became a computer instructor aboard Princess Cruise ships. Don and Brenda traveled to many world locations and taught on many Princess Cruise ships.
Brenda faithfully served in many callings in the LDS Church such as Ward Relief Society Councilor, Stake Primary President, Stake Relief Society President, and Councilor to Clyde Romney, in the Regional Public Affairs office.
Brenda was devoted to her children and 4 grandchildren, Jayden Lark Terry and Dylan, Khloe, and Makayla Domingue. She worked diligently, teaching them many lessons that were associated with their grade level. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter Sharon, who died in 2007.
Brenda is survived by her husband Donald Terry, their Children, Todd, Brian and Shauna, and her two sisters JoAnn Succi of Poway and Judy Howell of Fallbrook.
Poway Funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 15750 Bernardo Heights Parkway, San Diego, CA 92128, on April 6 at 11:00am. A viewing will precede the service at 10:00am.

I was so sorry to read of Brenda's passing yesterday, which was too late to attend her service. She has been a friend for many years and I have had wonderful times and talks with her. My condolences to Don and their children. May the memory of her beautiful smile continue to light their lives.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Don and Brenda were family friends for 60 years. So many memories shared with our parents Bill and Marcia Weston (both now gone). Don and our father both had long careers at General Dynamics in San Diego and owned houses in University City only a few blocks away from each other and often carpooled to work. After they both retired the two families founded the Hit any Key computer center and helped educate a lot of people for over 10 years.

We will always cherish the memories and the fact that our two families were able to spend so much quality time together.
