A Memorial Service for Brenda will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. with Edward Eschiti officiating.
Brenda Irene (Black) Yackeschi was born to Harold Alonzo and Ruth Reginia (Watkins) Black on December 14, 1955, in Arlington, CA and departed this life on March 23, 2026, in Lawton, OK at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 9 days.
Adopted out with sister Vicki at age 11, Brenda grew up in Banning, CA. At age 14 they moved to Oklahoma City, and then at age 16 moved to Walters, graduating from Walters High School in the Class of 1974. Here she met Duane Yackeschi and the two married January 3, 1976, making their home in Walters. To the union 2 daughters were born. Brenda worked at Gilliams Grocery and at Donna's Cafe. She then went to work at the Nutrition Center in Walters starting as a dish washer and working her way up to Site Manager, retiring after 34 years with the program.
Brenda loved shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, hosting Home Interior parties, going out to eat, and spending time with her dogs. She also loved a good argument.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold Black and Ruth Martinez; and a brother, Jerry Kinder.
She is survived by her husband Duane Yackeschi of the home; 2 Daughters, Dee Dee and Curtis DuBose of Walters and Teresa Yackeschi of Lawton; 4 brothers, Jimmy Kinder, and Vincent Baker all of California; 3 sisters, Vicki Black of Lawton, Terri Kinder of California and Pam Watkin; 5 grandchildren, Victoria Montalvo of Lawton, Marcus Yackeschi and Felissa King of Lawton, Makayla Gonzalez and Daniel of Duncan, Ernesto Montalvo of Elgin, and James Payne of Chickasha; 9 great-grandchildren, Rhylee, Zhakia, Khali'ana, Nylahh, Meilanni, Raven, Rosie, Autumn, and Olivia, other relatives and many friends.
