In memory of
Katherine Peil-Kauffman
May 8, 2020
Brendan Randall was a brilliant, generous and passionate humanitarian. The planet is so much the less without his presence, and I mourn for what he might have done given his endless potentials. But I carry his memory and some small part of his legacy in my own work as it concerns morality and human spirituality and its source in our emotional biology. Much love to you Cathleen, equally brilliant, passionate and fierce!

Cathleen, I wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear about Brendan. I missed the obituary last year because of traveling and only now saw his name in the Hennepin Bar Memorial list. I will miss that as well and probably the opportunity - so rare - to see you. I have fond memories of your wedding at Shattuck St. Mary's and fencing trips with you, and Brendan at Faegre. You are in my thoughts, Gail

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Brendan in law school well and after for our early years of practice. I knew him then to be such a smart, kind and thoughtful person. My thought and prayers are with his family.

Dear Mary,
Sandy and I have just returned from a Viking River Cruise.
Larry just let me know of Brendon"s passing. i just can't relate to how hard it must be for a caring, sensitive person like you to have to suffer such heartache. Dylan Thomas said it best: "Our grief is forever shared and forever all your own." I can't imagine, but if I were to guess, it would be that you are trying to remember the times you two have shared, his wit , his kindness, the things he said. I never knew him, but I know you so I know what a marvelous man he must have been,
Love,
Red and Sandy

So sorry to hear of Brendan's passing. Knew him from Bloomington Jefferson High School, and we both graduated from University of Minnesota Law School. I had many high school classes with him. He was a brilliant man and very kind.

Dear Cathleen and Randall family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't believe that Brendan is gone. He was such a good friend to me at HGSE. He was always so fun to talk to, he was a great intellectual mind, and he always supported me in my pursuits. I enjoyed so much my time with him! He made me laugh and think, and I will miss him. Thinking of you all and Brendan, with love. Barbara, friend, Cambridge, MA

To all of you,
When I name people who have been most important to me in my life -- who helped me become who I am in a thousand ways -- Brendan is always on the short list. Although we had lost touch over years and miles, I never had a better "work friend" and could (and do) talk for hours about all he taught me and what an incredible person he is. It is small comfort, but please know that he continues to shape lives in ways he himself would be surprised to hear.

What a bitter loss to a world that benefitted so much from everything Brendan had to give. He was such a generous, kind man, with such a great sense of humour, & a deep knowledge of justice & fairness. I was privileged to know & work with him, even if for a short time.

Dear Randall family, I am deeply saddened by the news of Brendan's passing. I had the great honor of meeting Brendan on a few occasions through our interfaith work and listening to all of his warm stories about family, Minnesota, and those he served through his great work. The world has lost a great leader. Your family is my thoughts and prayers.
