Boise, Idaho - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brent John Elg, who left us on April 2 at the age of 81. He was born April 28, 1943, in Idaho Falls Idaho and he lived a full life of laughter and cherished memories.

Brent was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known for his kindness and ability to befriend anyone; He truly never knew a stranger.

He spent most of his working life as an ultra-pure welder at Micron Technology, where he had the reputation of fixing any problem and was a dedicated employee with a legendary work ethic.

But being around his family brought him the most happiness. He treasured traveling with his wife Nancy, fly fishing with his son Eric, and eating, drinking and being merry with his daughter Shannon. He loved to cook but never stuck to the recipe, so you were always surprised by a slight twist of the meal! He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his 3 grandchildren and was at all sporting events & dance recitals. Usually with a camera, trying to document all the action.

Even though Brent was a big strong guy and a former Marine, he was a softy who would always remind you of how much he loved you & would do anything for you at the drop of a hat. A loyal husband, father, grandfather, and brother to us all. His absence leaves a giant void in our lives.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy. His son Eric (Stephanie), his daughter Shannon (Marc) and his grandkids who were the apple of his eye. Audrey & Andre Elg, and Zoe Rhoades. His brother Mike Elg, and sisters Patt Van Horn & Sandy Bourelle, all of Arizona.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lester and Edna Elg.

To honor Brent, a celebration of life will be held on May 24 at the home of Marc and Shannon Rhoades
