Bret Maverick Watson, age 45, devoted son, father, and brother, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.  Bret was born on December 22, 1978, in Bolivar, TN to Albert Ray Watson and Bonnie Ann McCloud Chilcutt. He was a resident of Hillville, TN.

Bret loved life and living it to the fullest. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed working on vehicles, where he would take them apart and put them back together. He will long be remembered as one who loved all things fast and was not scared of anything. He was a grill master and enjoyed sharing his talent and love of grilling with others. He always enjoyed a cold beer. Spending time riding the backroads and fishing on the river brought him much happiness through the years. He was loyal to his family and friends, and he always had his brother’s back. He found joy in life when he would spend time with his boys and his brother. He did it his way always, or Liz’s way. If he loved you, he loved you, and if he did not like you, you would know it. Bret was sick his entire life, and he made many transitions in his life. He made amends with people, and he made his peace with God.  In the last month of his life, he fought to stay alive for his family, but in the end, he was ready to be well and to be free. It was with a smile on his face he made the transition from this life to his eternal life.

He is survived by his son, Ryan Maverick Watson of Collierville, TN; his daughter, Skyler Ledford of Brownsville, TN; his mother, Bonnie Chilcutt of Brownsville, TN; his brother, Bart Watson of Whiteville, TN; his sister, Elizabeth Watson of Brownsville, TN, and one grandchild on the way. He also leaves three special nephews, Dillon, Brittin, Jaiden, and one special niece, Peyton. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Ray Watson.

Memorials may be made to the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.

The family has honored his wishes for cremation. All arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN
