Brian Acciavatti Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 11, 2025.
In Loving Memory of Brian D. Acciavatti
February 8, 1945 - November 7, 2025
Brian D. Acciavatti, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in Port St. Lucie, Florida on November 7th, 2025.
Born in Bronxville, New York, Brian was the son of Elsie and Marino Acciavatti. After graduating from high school in Eastchester, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. During his tour, he participated in several combat operations, including Operation Prairie I, II, and III. Brian rose to the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged after his service.
Throughout his military career, Brian earned numerous honors, including the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge.
Brian met his first wife, Bandy, in Mount Kisco, New York. They built a family together and raised their children in Eastchester, Orange County, and Sullivan County, New York. A lifelong entrepreneur, Brian ran several businesses, including Vincent's Restaurant in Goshen, White Water Canoe & Raft Rental and The Springhouse in Barryville. Later in his career, he served as Building Inspector for the Town of Highland. Then as the Code Enforcement Officer in the Town of Port Chester before retiring.
In retirement, Brian made his home in Port St. Lucie, where he enjoyed relaxing by the pool, spending time at the American Legion, being with family and friends, and discovering new restaurants.
Brian was blessed with the love and care of two remarkable women. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bandy Acciavatti in 2010. He later found happiness with his longtime companion and wife of five years, Maria Acciavatti.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; his four children, Victoria (Michael), Peter (Amy), Melissa (Adam), and Brian (Alina); His greatest joys in life were his nine grandchildren -Matthew, Ben, Jack, Christopher, Dylan, Sam, William, Ezra, and his only granddaughter, Elsie. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Arlene Magnotta.
Those who knew Brian will remember his strong convictions, quick wit, and deep loyalty. He had a distinctive sense of humor-often teasing those he loved most-and a generous heart, always ready to lend a hand or share an opportunity.
Brian will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and devotion to his family, friends, and country. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The American Legion Post 318 in Port St. Lucie on Sunday, November 23rd at 1pm. A second memorial will be held in New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Brian's honor to Vietnam Veterans of America https://vva.org/?form=FUN26MAIN.
