Brian Paul Bouthillier December 22, 1953 - July 11, 2025
Brian Paul Bouthillier was born on December 22, 1953, and passed away on July 11, 2025, in Visalia, California. He died of natural causes after a short series of cardiac events.
He was "Brian" from the beloved "Brian's Books" comics and cards store opened in the 1980s in Santa Clara, California (originally on Pruneridge, before moving to El Camino), and his related stores in Milpitas and Palo Alto. The stores sprung out of his lifelong love of comics, cards, and other media. Born and raised in San Jose, California, when the remnants of the Valley of Heart's Delight were still abundant there, Brian grew up in the Berryessa area near Milpitas. He, his siblings, and friends played in orchards, picking apricots, plums, and walnuts. In addition to enjoying their comic collections, they built plywood go-carts with roller skate wheels to roll down foothill streets, and enjoyed birthday parties at Frontier Village.
Brian attended Piedmont Middle School and Piedmont Hills High School. Early on he worked with the Berryessa School District and also with U-Haul, then transitioned into retail. After selling his stores, he also worked as an assistant manager with Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) - Bird Avenue and Milpitas. After the closing of OSH, he moved to Visalia, California, and worked again with U-Haul until his passing.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents Paul Charles Bouthillier and Betty Harper Bouthillier Millan, his step-dad Sal Millan, his sister Carol Mueller, and his brother Bruce Bouthillier. Brian leaves two sisters, six step-siblings, two former spouses, a former-step-daughter, -step niece and nephew. Brian also leaves many additional beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished extended family and friends. Brian is loved and missed. Family and friends remember Brian's exuberance, generosity, stories, memories, and his infectious laugh.
Brian is in the care of Hadley Marcom Funeral Chapel, Visalia. Brian will be interred later at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
