Brian Davis Obituary

Published by Lakeshore Mortuary on Aug. 10, 2006.
Brian Keith Davis, 48, of Tempe, passed away on August 6, 2006, after a long, brave fight with colon cancer. Survivors include his wife, Lydian, of nearly 21 years; a son, Bobby; his parents, Keith and Doris Davis; a sister, Suzy Owens; a brother, Kevin Davis; and five nephews and four nieces. Born on October 7, 1957, in Boulder, CO, Brian, the oldest of three children, grew up in Scottsdale and Tempe. A graduate of Arizona State University, he was an aerospace engineer, working for 25 years at Honeywell. During that time, he spent one year on hiatus working for Food for the Hungry. Brian's love for and fascination with mechanical engineering began at an early age. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, building models and operating remote control cars and airplanes. Brian even won an Honorable Mention for his entry in a Mattel toy-design contest. He loved to read and enjoyed music. He was active in Grace Community Church for about 30 years, including singing in the choirs and volunteering in the children's programs. Those who knew Brian will remember his creative intelligence, wisdom and quick wit. His commitment to Christ was embodied in his humility and compassion for others, as well as his being a loving husband and father, and living his life with integrity and grace. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on August 13, 2006, at Grace Community Church, 1200 E. Southern, in Tempe. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa. Sign the Guest Book at eastvalleytribune.com

I knew Brian for a short time at Honeywell in Tempe, as we worked a few cubicles apart. Brian had an interest in the model train setup that I wired at Banner Desert Medical Center. Brian was very nice and polite. I'm so sorry for his family's loss. My thoughts are with Brian and his family. Marc Stern

Ludian, our prayers and thoughts are with you and Bobby. We wish we were there to express our sympathy. We always enjoyed talking with Brian during our walks on Bayview and admired the flowers.
