To the Gillen family, I want to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your son and brother. Brian was so very kind and caring. Last year when my husband was very sick, we had a big snowstorm. Brian called before the snow started and offered his help. He cleared the entire driveway and sidewalks for us. I will never forget his kindness or his smile. I am thinking of you all during this very difficult time.

I am just so sad. I am heartbroken for you MaryPat and Brian, and Shannon, Sean, Brendan & Timothy. I am so sad for all his Aunts, Uncles, cousins, family and friends. I am speechless and shocked and flooded with memories. Memories of Brian as a baby and watching him grow up at Hillside. Watching him learn to swim so tiny, I was in awe. He was the lil man of our picnic area. So many years ago........ I recently, well a year or two ago, I suppose... was out to lunch with my mom and Brian came over to our table to say hello. He sat with us and we reminisced
about Hillside and how we loved growing up there, and he was so sweet and kind to my mom. He talked about remembering my dad and we had a lot of laughs. He touched our hearts. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to have that meeting with him. My prayers are with you all right now, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Feel sick reading this. The Gillens lived right next door to us through high school after moving from Staten Island. I lost touch with Brian after moving to Florida... As the oldest boys from big Catholic families, we had a lot in common as teenagers but were very different. I remember taking a trip with him back to Staten Island when we were 14 or 15 and had a blast. My heart goes out to Mary Pat, Brian, Shannon, Sean, Brendan, and Timmy. So sorry for this loss.
