Brian Milbrett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Home-Heritage Chapel at Angelus on Feb. 9, 2026.
Brian Wayne Milbrett passed away in his home in Anchorage, Alaska on December 23rd, 2025 at the age of 71.

Brian was born on June 27th, 1954 in Paynesville, Minnesota. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend who dedicated his life to providing love, guidance, and support to those in his life. His unwavering commitment to family and friends defined him, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Brian, his parents and 10 of his siblings relocated via train to Oregon where he grew up alongside 12 siblings under the care of his loving mother and hard-working father. After graduating high school, Brian joined the army shortly after moving to Alaska. He served four years in Fort Wainwright and was honorably discharged.

His passion for the outdoors kept him in Alaska, where he continued to be an avid fisherman and skilled hunter. Brian supported his family and friends by sharing his knowledge- teaching them how to hunt and fish, process and prepare fish and game, and by sharing what he caught. Much of Brian's life was spent on the river with his daughters, friends, and family catching fish or venturing into the Alaskan wilderness to hunt game.

Brian believed in the value of hard work and being prepared for anything. He devoted himself to his career as an airplane mechanic for the Department of Interior at Office of Aircraft Services, until his retirement. His passion for airplanes continued into his later years, and he made many friends while traveling to various villages across Alaska to repair bush airplanes.

He was never one to sit idle, so upon retirement he joined the Bfit & Well community to stay active. Brian attended his workout classes regularly. He even appeared in some of their commercials. He really enjoyed his fitness family. Other members at Bfit & Well shared that he was a rock in the community and he will be greatly missed. Brian also served on the annex board.

Known for his gentle, kind, and wise demeanor, Brian's home was a sanctuary of warmth and unconditional love. The memories created within its walls echo his loving spirit. Always tinkering, building, or welding, Brian was creative and talented, able to figure out just about anything. He was often found building something new or helping repair machines and vehicles. When asked about his retirement plans, Brian would say he was already living in his retirement home-a space filled with tools, pets, grandchildren, and family. Being at Brian's house meant being surrounded by calm, understanding, and love.

Brian is survived by his daughters Stephanie Husted, Colleen (Josh) Timmer, and Kimberly (Ryan) Wood; grandchildren Benjamin Roberts Jr., Elijah Dorshkind, Heaven and Josiah Husted, Addisyn, Makenzie, and Brooklyn Timmer, and Amelia Wood; great-grandsons Roman and Lucas Roberts all of Alaska; siblings LoAnn Hinderlie, Elsie (Warren) Parham, LaVonne Rivera, Bonnie Burgin, Wendy (George) Midbust, Loretta (Kelly) Richardson, and Ronnie (Leslie) Milbrett all of Oregon and Gerry (Cheryl) Milbrett of Alaska; longtime best friend Mark Patricks of Alaska; and countless nieces and nephews.

Brian is preceded in death by his father Marvin Milbrett, mother Nora Milbrett, brothers Larry and Michael Milbrett, sisters Marcella Wilbur and Sandy Harris, and brother-in-law Carl Wilbur.

Brian's legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of family and friends. As those who knew him reflect on a life filled with generosity, resourcefulness, and quiet strength. They find comfort in the countless memories shared and lessons learned. The warmth and wisdom he brought to every gathering, his enduring presence in the lives of his loved ones, and his unwavering devotion to those he cared for will be deeply missed, yet the life he lived remains a guiding light, inspiring all to cherish one another and carry forward his example of compassion and steadfastness.

Services to be held at the Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus 440 E Klatt Rd., Anchorage, AK 99515 on February 9th, 2026, at 11:00 am followed by the burial at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
