Brian was born August 1, 1969, in Independence, MO, to John Smith and Jean Nibarger. He married Angela Harlan Oles on May 18, 2002, in Philadelphia, MO. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Dakota (Lacie) Oles of Shelbina, MO, Skyler Oles of Philadelphia, MO, Morgen Oles of Philadelphia, MO, sisters Belle Spencer of Independence, MO, Shelly (Steve) Siercks of Cole Camp, MO, Robin Coonrod of Clinton, MO, Loretta Smith of Clinton, MO, grandchildren, Layton Oles, Ryker Oles, Easton Oles, goddaughter, Sirena White and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chris Smith, Steven Oles and brother-in-law, Mark Spencer.
Brian worked as an independent Cable Lineman and Installer. His contributions to his profession were of skill and labor. Brian was witty and a bit of a stubborn side.
Brian was a collector of coins and Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia. He enjoyed watching the Chiefs play. He also watched Star Trek, Star Wars, and old black-and-white war movies. A bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup was a go-to for Brian. He could also be found enjoying the festive taste of Little Debbie snack cakes and Nutty Bars – paired, of course, with a glass of sweet tea.
Brian was an avid reader of science fiction literature. He savored the rich aroma of a well-crafted pipe or cigar, playing computer games and fishing. He listened to the melodies of the 50 & 60's and the twangs of classic country music.
Brian will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever admired by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorials can be made to the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel for funeral expenses.
