In Loving Memory of Brian Owens
August 15, 1977 – July 14, 2025
Brian Owens, age 47, passed away at his home on July 14, 2025. Born on August 15, 1977, Brian lived a life marked by love, integrity, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband, a caring stepfather and uncle, a cherished son, brother and a loyal friend to many.
Brian's warmth and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. Whether sharing stories on the lake or lending a helping hand, Brian lived with purpose and heart.
An avid bass fisherman, Brian found peace and happiness on the dock or in his fishing boat at Lake of the Ozarks. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for those closest to him. Family gatherings, fishing trips, and at home with Kori were where Brian truly loved to be.
Professionally, Brian exemplified dedication and perseverance. Starting on the maintenance crew at Shelter Insurance, he rose through the ranks to become an underwriter in just six years-a testament to his unmatched work ethic and determination. He earned the respect and admiration of colleagues not just for his accomplishments, but for the humility and kindness with which he carried himself.
Brian Owens was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the skills he shared, and the memories he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving wife Kori Owens, son Ryan Norton, father David Owens and sister Laura Owens. He was not a mere in-law, but a true son to Kori's parents Tom and Kathy Ogden and true brother to Kori's siblings Kelly (Jared) Hanes and Matt (Lisa) Ogden. He was a devoted uncle to Aubrey and Josselyn Hanes and Addison and Ameila Ogden. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Marlene Owens.
A celebration of Brian's life will be held on July 26th at Christian Fellowship Church 5045 Chapel Hill Rd., Columbia, MO 65203, where friends and family are invited to gather, remember, and honor the remarkable man he was. Visitation will be 10am with service to begin at 11am.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.parkermillard.com.
