I met Brian at an International Conference on aurora and airglow and offered him a position with my group at the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratory. He accepted and helped me build an internationally recognized research team measuring atmospheric phenomena world-wide with state-of-the-science sensors mounted on a KC 135 airplane. He was a first class scientist and person - so many good memories.

I was lucky to have had many times to enjoy Brian's company and experience some of his love for art, science and aeronautical design. I especially remember his sense of humor, smile and his enjoying a glass of Cabernet with dinner. He appreciated all things around him and people in his life. He is fondly remembered and missed. Brian was a great mentor and friend while I collaborated with his team at Hanscom AFB for almost 40 years.
