Brian "Spinner" Joseph Setter, 60, passed away on May 8, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born on May 11, 1964, in Springfield, Illinois, Brian was known for his kind and quiet nature and had a gift for connecting with people wherever he went.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Brian spent many decades managing auto supply stores, where his deep knowledge and passion for automobiles shone through. He started working on the weekends restoring cars with a long time friend who had a garage in Bushnell. He recently made the decision to retire from the grind of the retail business, sold his house in Gulfport, left the hustle and bustle of city life, and moved to Webster to continue restoring cars on a part time basis with his friend, stripping them down and rebuilding them with care and precision. There he bought some property and fulfilled a long-held dream by building his own garage. He lovingly worked on his three cars (Jettas) and 1990 Chevy Silverado truck and became especially skilled with diesel engines. He loved the relaxed country setting, the peacefulness of the surrounding area and working on his property. Drag racing was another of his great loves, and he found joy in the speed and craftsmanship of the sport. He also loved fishing and the water, having owned and restored boats.
Brian is survived by his father, Henry Louis Setter Jr.; sister, Diane Trumbull and her husband Steve; life long companion, Pam Setter; nieces Jessica Epp, Sara Cook, and Elizabeth Trumbull; sister in law Trish Donaldson and her husband Jeff; aunt Sondra and uncle Charlie Kalwitz; uncle Dick Payton; and his cherished three cats, Milky, Salem and Mogli. He was predeceased by his mother, Sally Anne Setter; his older brother Michael Joseph Setter; and his grandparents, Ed and Anne Payton and Henry and Helen Setter Sr.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Brian's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and shared in the warmth of his friendship and the spark of his passions.
