Brian W. Shear, age 66 of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away September 13, 2022, in Denver after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer. Brian was born on February 12, 1956, to Harold and Janet Shear. He grew up as the son of a distinguished Colonel (Army) who was stationed at many bases. Brian attended elementary school in France, something he always appreciated and that also resulted in his lifetime love of knights and castles. He graduated from Adams City High School in Commerce City, CO and then graduated from University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering.
For the past 37 years, Brian owned and operated Shear Engineering. He engineered and created plans for new developments, constructing countless buildings and additions to businesses in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska.
After dating for 17 years, Brian married Yvonne Berg Wallace on October 8, 2005. They were married in the brand-new Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, a church they remained active in. Together they enjoyed family gatherings, road trips and many travel experiences, including the twice a year trips to Vail. They lovingly celebrated every month anniversary with cards and dinners out.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne M. Shear; his stepdaughter, Mandy Schaal (Judy Karg, mother), of Greeley, CO; two stepsons, Steve Wallace (Lisa) of Loveland and Randy Wallace (Heather) of Fort Collins; two grandchildren, Olivia and Hunter; three step-grandchildren, Meagan, Justin (Chelsey) and Matt; and two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Cole. Brian is also survived by his twin brother, Bruce Shear (Suzanne Tyrell), of Denver and two sisters, Kathy Moodie of Waco, TX and Sandy Kerr of Sparks, Nevada and several nieces and nephews. Having a blended family Brian had many sibling-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Shear (Judy Karg, mother), his parents, his brother-in-law, David Kerr and his father-in-law Alfred and mother-in-law Esther Berg and two brother-in-laws.
The family requests that any memorial donations please be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Donor Alliance, or Redeemer Lutheran Church in Brian's memory.

I started to work with Brian at McCarty Engineering in 1980. I was mentored and encouraged by Brian to advance in engineering. He was a most amazing mentor and friend. We both left McCarty's in 1985, Brian to start his own company and me at the City of Longmont. I started my company in 1988 after getting licensed.. Brian helped my with studies and helped with starting my company. We worked together for years afterward. Brian had such a great spirit and was a wonderful friend. Reading today that he passed broke my heart. A great loss.
