In memory of
Patti Garr
November 11, 2024
I and my family are deeply saddened by Brian´s passing. We´re sending heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
We met Brian through his family in Pennsylvania, shortly after we adopted our son. Knowing that he was going to meet him during a family visit to Bucks County, he came bearing gifts. Since he didn´t know his age, Brian showed up with multiple gifts covering an age range from two to fifteen years old. He was so thoughtful, generous, and kind. He bonded beautifully with our little boy (who is now thirty-six).
He was always pleasant company, and, over the years we enjoyed celebrating occasional holidays with him. I along with my husband Scott and our son, Jano, we will always remember him with great fondness.
With Deep Sympathy,
Patti Garr

My condolences to the Slater Family. Brian was a good friend. I enjoyed his eccentric character, his curiosity about others, his gift for storytelling and creative sense of humor as well as the many, often surprising interests that he had and humbly shared. He was a very generous and genuine person and a very solid friend. Among the memories or images that I keep of him are : a few canoe trips on the Hudson River, his visits upstate New York, some longer stays when he helped us build our house, evenings in the garden, coffees in Chinatown with our friends and good talks about books as well as good meals. I still make the tomato, corn and tarragon dish that he taught me to make. He will be greatly missed.

Brian was a very important part of the New York Jazz Community, he loved this music, the masters of it and also the people who dedicate their lives to playing it! He was a gentle soul always ready to say or do the right thing at the right moment to make you feel appreciated and loved when you felt down and out. He was a great friend to hang out with and carried with him a peaceful and serene vibe that he shared with you, even if this peace and serenity sometimes eluded him.
