I was just thinking about you...You have departed....Yer gonna cause some havoc up there in Heaven!!!..Oh.. this is so odd.,,but again ..not for Brian ,Aka Dr Love , was quite a fellow
A bit of the Irish Devil in him, brilliant, quirky(nice way to say it) ..you were known for your amazing storied..stories...a word man..We met many years ago through a friend in Newport..you did a great music and word piece for us for a show ...and pop up gallery called Brianware.,in Providence RI..BRAINWARE..wear it!hmmmm..with music by Mike Walsh..pianist extroidinaiire ...and witty guy.
This is the weird part...I moved to small sweet town in north Mississippi 17 years ago.Water Valley. We 'd lived in New Orleans for 11 years and moved 3 years after Hurricane Katrina broke our hearts..but not our spirits .
I'm friends with another New Orleanian departee...We miss what New Orleans was from the 70's and 90's ...a magical time for us. ..so many stories..wouldn't seem normal unless you live in New Orleans.
My friend bought the Columns Hotel in the mid/late 70's ...and there she met Brian Sullivan, who was living in New Orleans at the time.
Looking dapper, as always, Brian asked if he could us the foyer of the hotel to do a memorial reading of William Butler Yeats.
After some chatting she agreed to let Brian use the foyer of the Columns Hotel to do the reading. The next day Brian came in with sheer black cloth, a casket and began putting the dark cloth in front of the windows. The casket was brought in by a bunch of university students and then the women came in ..Oh My!!!
My friend said, "Brian..you can't have THIS in the foyer..! And who are these women??"...Brian said "Oh..These are the keeners and wailers " for Yeats funeral."Needless to say, my friend gently said it can't happen here....but wow what a connection!
