Bridget "Breda" Cotter

Bridget "Breda" Cotter passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Breda was born in Headley's Bridge in County Kerry, Ireland. In 1961 she married her husband, Daniel
Cotter of Knockbrack, Knocknagoshel in the Bronx, NY where they started their family.
The Cotter family moved to New Jersey and their family expanded to a family of six and raised their children
in East Brunswick.
Breda worshiped weekly at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and worked as a School Crossing Guard for the
East Brunswick School system. She was an active member of the Brunswick Shamrock club which celebrated
her Irish heritage and provided her many opportunities to dance waltzes and polkas.
Breda loved to play golf, go to the Jersey shore, the Irish Catskills, visit Ireland,and travel with her family
on the East Coast with their pop up camper. Later, she enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren
on vacation to Lake George, Florida, and Spring Lake.
Breda is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Caffrey and her husband Philip, Bridget Colendenski and
her husband John, Siobhan Dominy and her husband Mark; her grandchildren Kathryn and Krisanne
Caffrey, John, Julia, Bridget and Caitlin Colendenski, and Sean and Brendan Dominy.
Her siblings Bobby Cotter (wife Mary), Nicholas Cotter (wife Dori), Siobhan Bolger (husband Tom), and Maurice Cotter
reside in Ireland and her sister-in-laws Margaret Cotter of Howell NJ, Catherine Cotter of Rhinebeck NY, and Catherine Cotter of Chicago.
Breda was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Daniel; her son, Nicholas Cotter; and her parents
Nicholas and Bridget Cotter.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23 rd from 2-5 pm at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave.,
Westfield NJ. A funeral Mass will be held the next day, Monday, July 23 rd at 10am at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church, 1571 S. Martine Ave., Scotch Plains NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery.
