Brigitta Rosa Gardner (the German lady), a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Midway Park on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.
Born on November 9, 1935, in what was then Germany and is now Poland, her early years were shaped by her dedication to public health as a nurse in Germany, where she committed herself to the care and well-being of others. Following her move to the United States, she owned and operated a successful cleaning business in
Kansas City, MO.
Brigitta was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a passion for gardening, nurturing both vegetables and flowers. She was an avid crafter with a gifted hand who had the ability to sew anything and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, making clothes, and cross-stitching. Her creations were cherished by all who received them.
In her later years, Brigitta resided in the Pittsburg/Hermitage area of Missouri, where she found joy in visiting with neighbors and friends. It was here where she was a member of many clubs and organizations that she was passionate about. Known for her strong-willed character, always straightforward, opinionated, and eager to lend a helping hand or words of advice.
Brigitta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles C. Gardner; her parents, Fritz and Erna Menzel; and her sister, Ingrid (Willy).
She leaves behind her cherished family, who affectionately called her "GiGi." She is survived by her four daughters: Helen Eisiminger (Milton), Sarah Gardner (Ted Koler), Karin Gardner, and Stephanie Gardner-Greenleaf (Michael); three grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
The family will announce details of a memorial service that will be held at a later date, where friends and loved ones will gather to celebrate Brigitta's remarkable life and unique spirit. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
