With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Britton Charles Van Winkle on September 18th, 2025, at the age of 55. Born in Kettering, Ohio, on August 19th, 1970, to Arthur Van Winkle Jr. and Donna Fitzgerald (Aeillo); stepfather, Gregg Fitzgerald.
In his younger years, Britton was the charismatic frontman of the local band StarStruck. He had a passion for music that ran deep, and while he eventually stepped away from the stage, he never set down his guitar. Playing and collecting guitars remained one of his greatest joys, and his beloved instruments-all perfectly tuned-will be displayed at his service as a tribute to his lifelong love of music.
Britton will be remembered most for his heart. He had an easy smile and a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. More than anything, he cherished his family. His greatest pride was being a father. His daughter, Hannah, was the center of his world and he loved talking about her.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Ethan Van Winkle; his sister, Ashley Van Winkle; his niece, Brooke Van Winkle; and his grandparents, Norma Engle, Arthur Van Winkle, and Charles and Esther Aiello.
Britton is survived by his daughter, Hannah Larmen (Tristen); his brother, Arthur Van Winkle III (Lois de Valle); and his sisters, Lauren Fitzgerald, Farrah McGuire (John), Raven Van Winkle, Lindsey Williams (Scott), and Mandi Loayza (Dario). He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Arthur Van Winkle IV, Madison Jordan (Jaden), Jeida Watson, Hailey McGuire, Preston Shoup, Chandler Shoup, Braylan Gard, Matthew August, Ellie Williams, Lily Loayza, and Christian Albo.
Britton leaves behind a legacy of music, laughter, and love. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to live on in the songs he played, the memories he created, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459). Funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville, OH.
