I met Bruce nearly forty years ago when he worked for Ohio Valley Sound and I worked for Business Equipment and he was always a quiet spoken individual, he never seemed to get to awfully excited about very much. I do remember when his wife was having health problems and he asked to remember her in prayer. When Ohio Valley Sound closed up I lost track of Bruce but would occasionally see him around town and speak to him, he was always kind and cheerful when he spoke. From what I saw in Bruce he was a kind hearted Christian man unless he was pretending if so he was a good pretender otherwise he is now walking in heaven with Jesus. To his son's rest assured in the knowledge that if your dad was a born again Christian man that I saw in him then he wants you to be the same so that one day you will be together once again.

Yesterday, the autism community lost a warrior, and I lost a dear friend. Bruce Bennett. We, along with our families met in 1991, and as a part of a group came together to form #TheAutismSocietyofWesternKentucky
With the help of Emily Edwards Morton Rosalie Messer Schocke Lynn Morton Debbie Johnson Hein Frank Boyett Laura McGrail and several others, we saw the need to educate ourselves and the professionals that served our kiddos with autism, and thus began our journey to run an organization over the next 16 years. Eventually we would open an office, form a board of directors, and hire yours truly to run the day to day of the office. Bruce stepped into the position as Board President. We worked diligently to host workshops and an annual conference, bringing in the top speakers in the field nationally and internationally to the area.
In 2007, many of us, including myself were getting older and growing weary. It was time to dissolve our group, go out on a high note, and let someone else move things in a new direction.
Without Bruce as my co-pilot, so much of the good work we did would never have happened. I personally, could never have done it without Bruce.
He made a difference in the life of his son, Jacob Colby Bennett in my daughter Alyssa Emily Boyett s life and in the life of our wider family in the autism community
You definitely got your angel wings.
Rest In Peace, good soul
