Bruce John Bergs, 69, died as a result of a motorcycle accident, in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, with his three daughters by his side.
Bruce John Bergs was born, along with his twin sister, Bonnie, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to John Lester Marvin and Marion Jane (Heaton) Bergs on January 5, 1954. He grew up in Clarissa, Minnesota, and graduated from Clarissa Public High School in 1972. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army 9th Infantry, at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where Bruce received lineman and electrician training. After the military, Bruce went to Alexandria Technical College for trucking, graduating in 1977. He maintained a career in trucking all over the United States for 39 years until he retired in 2016.
On February 23, 1980, he was united in marriage to Victoria Kopet at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, in Clarissa, Minnesota. Bruce was the father of four children Nick, Corrine, Katherine, and Courtney, whom he loved very much.
Not only was Bruce was known for his sense of humor, but he was also known for his love of cars, motorcycles (essentially anything with a motor), and being on the road. Upon retirement, he was able to enjoy his many hobbies, especially, riding his motorcycle in New Mexico where he would spend his winters with his good friend, Ron. Additionally, he was passionate about yardwork and detailing all his vehicles.
Bruce really lived out "Love Thy Neighbor" as he would do anything for his neighbors. They became his best friends, essentially family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with yardwork and snow removal. He was the kind of neighbor everyone would want. He especially loved spending time with his neighbors Wally, Larry, and Deanne.
Bruce is survived by his son, Nick (Hannah) Brosh, his three daughters Corrine (Vyron) Morkassel, Katherine (Nathan) Butler, Courtney (Ryan) Engelbrecht; grandchildren Shelby, Jackson, Grace, Nathan, Blake, Brody, Bennett, Amelia, and baby Butler due in August; his twin sister, Bonnie, sister, Brenda, brother, Brian, and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his twin sons Matthew and Mark, parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
The funeral will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.
