Bruce Barry Bergstresser, age 75, of Lumberton passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at UNC Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Bruce was born in West Reading, PA on May 25, 1949 to the late Wilson Woodrow Bergstresser and Margaret Esther Lafaver Bergstresser. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers; Charles Bergstresser and Keith Bergstresser.
Bruce retired from Southeastern Regional Medical Center in 2013 after having worked in several departments including, Radiology, Security, and OSHA and Materials Safety. He was a Conceal Weapons Instructor and fan of Auburn football. Bruce enjoyed music especially Bluegrass and old Church Hymns. He was a member of Chestnut Methodist Church in Lumberton where he taught Sunday School for over 20 years. He was very proud of his 8 years of military service in the US Army. Bruce was a great supporter of the military and his country. He loved dogs, especially his Missy, and spending time with his family.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gayle Golden Bergstresser, daughter; Melody Bergstresser-Edwards (Shawn), sons; Max Bergstresser (Natalie) and Mark Bergstresser (Amy), grandchildren; Justin Bergstresser (Demry), Samuel Woods, Eden Bergstresser, Ethan Edwards, Audrey Edwards, Daysani Valerin and Sean Valerin, sisters; Sandra Eidle (Robert), and Audrey Bergstresser, brother; Leon Bergstresser (Claire), many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Bruce with Military Honors provided by the Ray A. Master, Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Fleetwood Cemetery, 215 E. Main Street, Fleetwood.
