Dr. Bruce D. Callander

Augusta, GA – Bruce Callander, 72, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 with his wife by his side. Bruce was a loving husband to Shelley Callander.
Bruce was born in Alaska and, as an Airforce "brat", traveled extensively. He graduated from the University of Alabama "Roll Tide", with a Doctorate in Education. He was the Regional Hospital Administrator of Gracewood State School & Hospital. Bruce also served as the Forensic Director at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Ga. Bruce was a devoted member of Christway Christian Church and served at the food pantry. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Bartram Trail Golf Club and the Forest Hills Golf Association.
Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Tim Callander (Amanda); grandchildren: Bryant and Kailey Callander; brother: Tommy Callander (Rhonda); sister: Margaret Hergenroeder (Rebecca); several nephews and one niece. Bruce was predeceased by his father: Thomas J. Callander; mother: Frances "Boots" Bryant; brother: Robert "Bobby" Callander.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Christway Christian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
