Bruce Compton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Young Family Funeral Home - Kendallville on Jan. 21, 2026.
Bruce Compton, 59, of Corunna, Indiana died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his residence.
He was born February 25, 1966, in Kendallville to Gary Hansel and Birdie Mae (Knox) Compton. They preceded him in death.
Bruce's life was defined by curiosity, kindness, and a deep love for the people around him. Whether he was tinkering on cars or spending time outdoors, he found joy in the simple moments that made each day meaningful. His greatest happiness came from being with his family, especially his grandsons, who brought out his brightest smiles and most tender pride.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, and quiet strength, the kind that lives on in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the memories held close. Bruce will be deeply missed, but the warmth he brought into the world continues to shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
Surviving are his wife and companion of 20 years, Della Pierce of Corunna; a daughter, Tayla Compton and her fiancé, Ezra Lechleidner of Avilla; two grandsons, Easton Hansel Lechleidner and Wesson Lawarence Lechleidner; three sisters, Gail (Larry) Cordial-Norton of Butler, Pam Branning of Albion, and Tammy (Vaughn) Halsey of Angola; and three brothers, Greg (Karen) Cordial of Kendallville, Duane (Margaret) Compton of Kendallville, and Troy (Melinda) Compton of Kendallville.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Creedence Lawrence Lechleidner on January 31, 2022.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the family for expenses.
