Bruce was more than just nice he was calming and supportive. He had a way of telling you no that just made it okay. You trusted that his decision was thoughtful and fair. He was welcoming and knowledgeable. If I knew that Bruce was in charge of something I didn´t worry about the other details because he made things better. He is irreplaceable as a colleague, leader and person.

Bruce was a gentle leader and mentor for many of us at ERAU--whenever I came to Bruce with a problem, his reply was always an interesting story about how he once painted himself into a similar corner but managed a daring escape! I loved his stories, but sometimes I just wanted a straight answer. It took me a time or two to realize "the answer" was the story. Bruce taught me many things. I appreciated his brilliant contributions to our profession and maybe most of all his warm, tender way with his colleagues. Sincere condolences to Bruce's family, I'm so glad we were able to meet in Norfolk and, together, celebrate our beloved Professor Emeritus. Best, MK

He taught my kids "the square root game" forever replacing the abc car game. He gave the Eagle Scout oath to my boys as well. And they all turned out to be Hokie engineers. And I got to work with him at ERAU. I'll miss him.

Bruce and I worked together for many years at Embry-Riddle. Of particular note is the time we spent together as Faculty Senate officers: Speaker and Vice Soeaker. Bruce was always a consummate gentleman; always a class act.

I had the privilege of studying with Dr. Conway at ODU. He was a true gentleman and mentor who garnered respect just based on his integrity and competence.
