Bruce Davidson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home on Feb. 27, 2026.
Bruce Charles Davidson died peacefully on January 16th, 2026, in Marinette, Wisconsin after living on Shore Drive for over 45 years. Bruce was born September 25th, 1943, in Chester County, Pennsylvania. His parents, Hilda Davidson (von Berg) and Albert Davidson, moved to Hyde Park, New York, where Bruce grew up. He often shared stories of his love for rowing, hunting, and fishing and enjoyed making mischief with his friend Damian Amodeo. A stellar student, he graduated magna cum laude from Marist College and cum laude from Harvard Law School. He joined Quarles and Brady in 1970, became a partner in 1977 and retired in 2010, but continued to mentor associates and junior partners for many years. Bruce had a near encyclopedic memory for corporate finance law and managed billion-dollar mergers. As of 2015, under Davidson's leadership, the Milwaukee Q&B office had raised more than $11.8 million over 4 decades for the United Way. Bruce married Laurene DeWitt (Davidson) in 1979, becoming a much-beloved father to Dawn DeWitt (Talbot) and Robin DeWitt (Knauth). The couple organized caroling for neighbors and friends every Christmas. Bruce and Laurie became lifetime members of the Marinette Historical Society. A life-time member of the "Gitche Gumee fishing club" he reveled in annual fishing trips to Alaska. Bruce's sense of humor was legendary, as was his quiet strength and woodsmanship. Many friends have commented that if they were lost in the woods they would want Bruce at their side. He enjoyed cross-country skiing with his daughters, hosting gatherings for family and friends, and weekend river rafting outings for Quarles associates and partners. Over his 40-year marriage to Laurie, he was dedicated to their german shepherds, loved his garden, and shared his many culinary endeavors including annual cider-pressing and making ice cream. He will be missed by his daughters, his grandchildren, his former partners, and many others.

A memorial service will be held at Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Marinette on Sunday, March 8th at 11 am.
