Bruce Kaupang Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Family Funeral Home - Winger on Sep. 24, 2025.
Bruce Leon Kaupang, age 76, of Winger, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, under the care of HIA Hospice.

Bruce was born on September 13, 1949, in Crookston, MN, to William and Lorraine (Scott) Kaupang. He grew up in the Winger area and graduated from McIntosh-Winger High School. In May of 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served overseas in Vietnam with the artillery division. Following his honorable discharge in 1971, Bruce returned home to Winger.

Throughout his life, Bruce worked a wide variety of jobs. A true jack-of-all-trades, his work took him into different career fields and across the country.

Bruce will be remembered for his big heart, sharp wit, and teasing sense of humor. He loved to laugh, flirt, and strike up a conversation with anyone-he had a way of lighting up a room. He liked playing cribbage and cards, collecting coins, and in his younger years, could often be found playing softball or golfing. He also enjoyed the simple pleasure of sharing a cold beverage with friends. Bruce was a member of the Winger American Legion.

More than anything, Bruce valued time with his family. His children and grandchildren brought him the greatest joy, and he treasured the visits, games, and everyday moments they shared. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and time spent with them was especially meaningful.

Bruce is survived by his children: Bill (Edna) Kaupang, Scott Kaupang, Amy Sherman (Colin Bowen), and Brianna Kaupang (Chris Foldoe); grandchildren: Kyle (Sam), Amber (Derek), Nick, Ryan, Cole, Jaxon, Bailey, Shelby, Ryleigh, Isabella, Braydyn, Rowan, Hudson, and Skylar; honorary grandchildren: Hunter, Tracer, and Parker; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Adelyn, and Cam; and brother, Harold (LaRae) Kaupang, and their children, Ross and Michelle. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

A Graveside Memorial Services with military honors will be held at Bethel Cemetery, rural Winger, MN, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
