I am in awe of anyone who has had the privilege to visit space! What a accomplishment. We thank Mr. Mc Candless and other Astronauts like him for their bravery. I offer the family my condolences and may the Creator of the Universe continue to comfort you.

America has lost a hero. Fair winds and following seas.

Truly a brave soul and awesome adventurer, Bruce inspired many with his actions and was always quick witted who could bring a smile with his soft sense of humor. Bruce, thank you for showing us what it means to be a pathfinder and how to reach for our goals!

Thoughts and prayers to all. I was blessed to have gotten to know Bruce and call him a friend. I will cherish the time I spent with him. The United States of America has lost a great father, husband and pioneer. Rest in peace Bruce and know that you are loved and missed.

Our family met Mr. And Mrs McCandless on a whalewatching cruise to Baja In Mexico some years ago. Our Son and Daughter, 14 and 12 at the tme, spent quite some time in facinating discussions with them. They are 24 and 21 now and most fondly remember that time, as do we. Our family condolences to his family! I recall him well from the years he was my father's star electrical engineering student at USNA and often ate at our home on Bowyer Road there. I was still in elementary school and looked up to him. I recall that he was interested in flight and space travel. My dad was a navy pilot.
