Bruce Monroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, LLC - Beacon on Feb. 20, 2026.
Bruce (Amar) Monroe was born in New York on March 10, 1964. He was the eldest of three children born to the late Mrs. Deaidtra Ann Monroe Cain and Walter H Cain. Bruce was educated in the New York City public school system. Over the years, he learned several trades and later served as a legal research clerk. As well as working with Human Services. Yet, beyond any title or occupation, Bruce's greatest passion was teaching. He found deep purpose in helping others obtain their G.E.D., encouraging them to believe in themselves and strive toward higher education and personal growth. Bruce shared a beautiful bond with his fiancée Crystal Lee whom he deeply loved.

Bruce was deeply devoted to his family. He also held close in his heart his late grandparents, Mrs. Marcella Monroe and Johnny Monroe, as well as his late uncles, Harold Monroe and Lawrence Murphy. Bruce's love extended warmly to family and close friends.

Bruce was a man with profound intellect and creativity, Bruce authored many volumes of poetry and philosophical reflections rooted in his lived experiences. He carried a lifelong reverence for Black history and universal Black consciousness. As a teenager, Bruce (Amar) embraced the sacred teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths, also known as the Five Percent Nation. With sincerity and conviction, he later shared these life-giving teachings with his brother, Pharaoh, and others he encountered along his journey.

In February 2026, in Beacon, New York, the sun gently set on the life of Bruce (Amar) Monroe. Though his passing was untimely, the impact of his presence remains enduring. He leaves to cherish his loving Fiancée Crystal Lee his brother, Hussein (Pharaoh) Omar Ali Cain; Lisa Allah Harris, sister in law, sister Sakina Cain; nephews, Shateek Cain and Dante Leslie; beloved niece, Kesandra Ingram; grand-nieces, Alanna Cain, Heavenly Cain, and Joselyn Castro, grand-nephews, Justin Isaiah Bell, grand-nephew Jace Rodriguez ; along with a host of cousins, extended family, and all who were touched by his wisdom, strength, and spirit.

Bruce will be remembered for his keen mind, gentle strength, and unwavering desire to uplift others. His words, teachings, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

"Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."

- Qur'an 2:156
